Additive Manufacturing

Use of additive manufacturing systems at Spang & Brands

At Spang & Brands, we utilise the possibilities of additive manufacturing in the following areas:

  • Production of prototypes

The additive production of prototypes, including their post-processing, is used to efficiently implement demanding customer requirements in the run-up to series production. Designs can be checked quickly and cost-effectively so that development time and costs can be significantly minimised when finalising items.

  • Testing of components on the basis of 3D models

Filling and warpage simulations on initial 3D models ensure reliable manufacturability. The findings are used to create specific drawings for toolmaking in order to realise the first components.

  • Tool inserts & mould making

The production of tool inserts for injection moulding and mould making benefits considerably from additive processes. Complex geometries, conformal cooling channels and customised adaptations can be implemented quickly and precisely. This leads to shorter development times and improved mould service lives.

  • Optimisation of handling systems / spare parts

By printing handling systems or spare parts in-house, flexible adjustments can be made, production times can be shortened and weight can often be reduced.
